Pumpkin Float - 2001
page 1 of 2 Next
The 2001 float had less Pumpkins than the previous year - sixteen as opposed to twenty one - and proportionately fewer survived to the bridge. I suspect the additional three feet of river level may have had something to do with it, causing the pumpkins to act more like catapulted space probes than placidly bobbing pumpkins. Last year seventeen made it to the bridge, this year only seven made it. Taking a walk the next morning, Laurenn and I saw three shipwrecked pumpkins held back by a branch from a uprooted tree which had fallen in the water only a few hundred yards from the launching point. On the upside, on a walk with Michael Kruger and Mary, Mary spotted two stranded pumpkins that had made it well past the bridge in Evart.
Thanks to all of you for making it a great event - looking forward to seeing you at next years Pumpkin Float!
High resolution files of the following pictures are available upon request. I apologize for the somewhat blurry and lackluster image presentation, but Ari's existence forces limitations upon my time.
