Large and small circle; satellite view

Some months ago for who knows what idle reason, I decided to see if there was any relation between the large circles created by the vanishing points.
After a few false starts, I discovered that if you take the diameter of the smaller circle, it will overlap the larger circle twenty times, with considerable accuracy. I sent this information on to John Legon, who came up with some amazing observations which you can read here on his site.
