Catholic Church, Trujillo Plaza

Church, looking South

The twin spires of this architecturally unremarkable church (circa 1930) can be seen from almost anywhere in Trujillo. The Catholic church is very active and energetic in Trujillo; they own a radio station called "Radio Catholica" which they put to public use. Any day of the week there are public announcements about AIDS (SIDA in Spanish) and the evils of "Machismo". Radio Catolicha's music repertoire covers the spectrum from Garifuna to Reggae; the station is entertaining at any time of the day.
Contributions to relief organizations in the area always get to where they are needed if donations are funneled through the church. If funds go through governmental channels they will not reach their destination.
