I wrote the music and music for "Spaceman"  in 1981, shortly after a trip to Mexico and had largely forgotten about it until is surfaced while I was perusing my old notebooks. There were several songs and poems, but this is the only one from that notebook that really held me. Here it is, with only slight modifications.

SpacedMan

Touch the moistured green-grey felt
feel the alien smudges on your belt
Touch the force-field if you can
whip your spacegun out - spaceman

See the blinding light between your eyes
press the button and the rocket fires
Radiation's see-through tan
feel the force-field heat - spaceman

And if you gaze into the sky beyond the ozone layer above
you can scan for robot sister and the spaceman making love
you can sometimes hear the vacuum when magnetic fields turn on
But before you chance to see they power off and they are gone

Sunspots shape a photospheric sun
Rocket brother's out there having fun
Back to the past where you began
in your helmet shout - spaceman

I find my capsule slowly sinking down
Fill the tank inside that we may drown
An empty ocean with no land
Hold your joystick tight - spaceman

Break

See a tear run down our spaceman's face
upon his screen he sees the Human Race
You're rocket sister's biggest fan
Set yourself alight - spaceman

And if you gaze into the sky beyond the ozone layer above
you can scan for robot sister and the spaceman making love
you can sometimes hear the vacuum when magnetic fields turn on
But before you chance to see they power off and they are gone
They are gone
They are gone
They are gone
