The Meadow 1999
Getting to the Meadow

If you're coming from Detroit, you want to get to the corner of U.S. 27 and M-46. I'd recommend taking I-96 west, then take U.S. 127 around Lansing to where it becomes U.S. 27; follow 27 north to M-46. That's a better way than slugging west across M-46 from Saginaw.

From the corner of 27 and M-46 proceed west on 46 for 14 to 16 miles (I can't remember the exact distance). You'll pass signs indicating Elwell, Riverdale, and Vestaburg. About two miles beyond the blinking yellow light at Vestaburg corner, you'll see a sign indicating Pine Grove Road. Turn right on this road and proceed north.

After about a mile and a half Pine Grove Road does a sharp right curve, followed by a sharp left curve a quarter mile later. Follow the road through these bends; after making the left curve, look for the driveway on the right hand side of the road, through the red pines and autumn olive bushes. Turn right into this driveway. Follow the driveway past the garage and into the woods for almost half a mile (you'll see my parents house on the right as you go). Where two roads diverge in a narrow wood, take the one more traveled by--bear to the right. This leads up to the meadow.

If you are coming from the Muskegon River area, you'll want to take M-66 south to M-46. Go east on M-46 through Edmore. Pine Grove Road is about 4-5 miles east of Edmore. It will come just after you pass the road side rest area on Marl Lake. Pine Grove Road will be a left turn as you approach from this direction. If you get lost, you should call Greg Warner's parents:

(517) 268-5330.
