Return to Pumpkin Floats through
the ages | Pumpkin Float 2009
| Pumpkin Float - 2008
Frankly, I thought it would
be a disaster. We had no real idea as to where we were going to launch them,
but as it turns out, the Huron River as it runs through Ann Arbor is a
perfectly good substitute to the
Muskegan River, where we have floated pumpkins since time immemorial. As
we feared failure, we only invited a few friends at the last moment and for
this I am truly sorry and beg forgiveness from fellow pumpkin floater
enthusiasts.
Ten pumpkins were carved, seven made it to the bridge about the same
distance as the cottage to Sears Bridge. We'll try to do it again next year.
Once again, a grateful thank you to David Lee who is the originator of this
fine Olympian sport. |
