The verbal descriptions of the self-inflicted wounds in the Honduras national body are many, varied, and all correct to some degree, as long as it's recognized that - in shameful truth - Honduras political "leaders" have long been and still are the worst enemies the "common people" of this endlessly abused country have ever had.

The plethora of escalating problems facing Honduras haven't "just happened". They have been engineered, created, fine-tuned, put in place, and continue to be stoutly defended, by the political leeches who benefit from the corruption and missfeasance that has been bleeding the country white for years on end - and continues unabated.

Get the central point straight: The curse of Honduras is not "bad luck". What plagues Honduras is a witch's brew of bad leadership, bad judgment, greed, administrative irresponsibility and world-class managerial incompetence.

The current posture of Honduras on the world stage is that of the defendant haled into court for having shot his parents, and who pleads for mercy because he is an orphan. Incredible? Worse than incredible. Outrageous!

Outside help can not cure or even much improve the "Honduran sickness". Remedial efforts must begin in the Presidential Palace, and reach into every Court of Law and Municipal Cabildo in the land. Anything less is foredoomed to another round of failures.

The "neighbors" have done all they can. Now it's up to Honduras to "heal itself".
