il_lupo: Or does the european reaction just prove that they have a sense of humor, and the "culture judges" in Honduras do not have? "Aserege de los Ketchup" isn't in the same class as Beethoven's 5th Symphony, but it still beats some of the hip-hop going around. .... Lorenzo |

I'm in the dark, but curious. Why would there be a ban on this song in Honduras? Can someone clue me in? |

Estaban: I am unaware that anything is banned in Honduras - especially if there's a dollar in it. This goes double for something as innocuous as a feelthy song! ...Lorenzo |

As I understand it, Los Ketchup is a group from Spain of noise-makers-with-musical-instruments whose song is supposed to be full of clear Satanic 'messages' and praise, that being the reason for the efforts to ban it. I have not heard the 'song', because I do not listen to heathen 'music'. My understanding is that the efforts to surpress this praise of Satan has come from Catholic elements, not from the so-called evangelical cultural puppets of the Empire (the United States). |

Dear Carias, Yes you are right!more with people that indirectly wants to promote a "culture of the burka".The fanatism is dangerous in any forms and any ideology (political, religious etc...) And we are living right now a world where 2 kinds of fanatism are in conflict:the Empire as you say(the Bush Administration USA )and the factions of islamist fundamentalists and probably others.Unfortunately I believe that this is a very dangerous situation. Mainly in the mankind history all the wars where caused by fanatism or control of economical control. The ban of a song of supposed Satanic message is the same for me that the ban of music from the Talibans in Afganistan. That is what I call the Burka culture...If we continue like that what will be the future of Democracy!!!I am wondering!!!Are we going to recreate a new form of inquisition??? And this is more dangerous in third world countries (like Honduras)where the people is much more manipulable than in industrialized countries where there is more culture and information, that is why the catholic church and the US imported Evangelists are there. Thanks God I am an atheist ,as the joke says.... |

dear il_lupo (i like that name), i just read your good letter. like i said, i am not fully aware of that song, because i will not get back to Honduras until later in december. by chance i just read an excellent editorial in the electronic edition of EL TIEMPO (www.tiempo.hn) for today -- friday- about this matter by a Catholic priest who writes intelligent commentaries for that newspaper. it is well worth reading; it might get repeated in saturday's edition. in today's Honduras, in my opinion at least, the Catholic Church is a very positive element -- at least 90 per cent of its work. very best wishes. -- C. |

Dear Carias, Yes you are right the Catholic Church would be the most positive element(Let's say better the more credible)but they are not saints .... Also in there there are some fanatics and their role in the mankind history is not one of the most brillant!!! Best Regards il_lupo |
