| Diamond Cay Bay Islands, Honduras Central America Diamond Cay is a two and a half-acre tropical paradise located a third of a mile from the island of Utila in the Bay Islands of Honduras. It is only 250 yards from the Jewel Cays, which are inhabited by a small number of mostly local Honduran Bay Islanders. The Cay (pronounced ìkeyî) is almost a perfect oval, being 364 feet long by 330 feet wide. There are over 100 producing coconut trees and numerous other trees and local plants and ferns in a "park like" setting. Diamond Cay is surrounded by beautiful, living coral reefs, with fabulous and varied scuba diving and snorkeling right off the beach. There are several small white sand beaches, some with trees hanging out over the water. Deep-water channel entrances on either side of the island allow easy access to large boats and yachts. A large deep-water anchorage area is located on the protected side of the cay, which allows mooring or dockage for large boats. The ocean side has reefs extending out from 400 to 550 feet offering complete protection from incoming waves and surges. Currently there is a small house, guest cabin, and boat dock.
